NL Urban Solutions was invited to participate in the Sino-Dutch Waterfront Design Exchange and discuss how to integrate design and the urban water challenges

The Sino-Dutch event with the topic ‘Water by Design’ was organized by the Dutch Embassy and Guangdong Urban & Rural Planning and Design Institute in September. In total, eight Dutch urban planning and landscape architecture design firms with projects in Big Bay Area in China were invited to share their experiences with experts from Guangdong Province.

Mrs. Rong Hu, the co-founder of NL Urban Solutions, held a pitch, titled “Use design power to build a resilient city – Experiences and Insights of Blueway Design by NLUS”. NLUS has extensive expertise in the field of water-sensitive and resilient urban planning and landscape design across China and the Netherlands. It is involved in three “Blueway projects” in Shenzhen. Rong Hu shared our comprehensive design approach, in these river renovation projects, taking Xinqiao river as an example. Water safety is the starting point to redesign the urban space, adapt to climate challenges, activating waterfront, supporting industry transformation, and creating an overall enjoyable and ecological river space”.
