NL Urban Solutions wins two awards with their river projects in the IFLA ASIA-PACIFIC region awards 2021

The two HONORABLE mention award-winning projects, which were developed in 2020,  have been recognized by the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) and received Landscape Architecture awards. The Asia-Pacific IFLA 2021 ceremony awarded 233 projects from around the world in 19 different categories. We are proud of being recognized by such a prestigious organization.

The two projects with the submission names “ Xinqiao River + Changliupi Reservoir – A green blueway as urban regenerator” and “ Divercity – Nature-driven urbanization at Chishi river of Shenshan” were awarded an honorable mention in the category of Unbuilt Parks and Environment, one of the categories with most entries in the IFLA Landscape Architecture Awards.

Xinqiao River and Changliupi Reservoir Blueway is a winning project in the international competition of Xinqiao River – Changliupi Reservoir Blueway Design and Construction Engineering. The design puts forward the concept of “Liveable Blue River, a New Bridge to a Smart City”. With Xinqiao river as the green link, it creates a safe and enjoyable blueway space with identity. It reinforces the relationship between city and riverfront and builds an advanced paradigm for the industrial transformation of Shenzhen traditional manufactory industry. The proposal is an integral design combining flood safety, water quality and ecology, design of the riverfront and lakefront including continuous slow traffic path network, accessible riverfront, ecological recovery measures, upgrading, activating and greening of the public spaces.

.

Diver-City is the first prize winner of the “International Consultation Competition for Planning and Design of Chishi Riverside in Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone” developed by the NLUS consortium team. The proposal is to create a new urban development scheme with ecological and cultural heritage, carefully balancing the relationship between nature, city and village. All of them will benefit each other. Diver City provides the resilient base for a new city for 1,5 million inhabitants in the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, 60 km to the east of Shenzhen. The proposal shows how to create water resilience, how to balance the fast urbanization and the ecological and cultural values of the precious Chishi River Basin, preserving biodiversity and cultural heritage while ensuring climate resilience for a future city. This “Nature driven urbanization” is applied along the 36.8 km of Chishi River.
