Qunke Yellow River Park Landscape Design
The Project is located in Qunke new district, with Yellow River running past the south side. The total design area is 17.2ha, and initial design for the key ‘Central Valley’ is 7.3 ha. The Design respects the existing site features and reflects the local culture. By emphasizing the fluid shape of the ground, the design provides landscape diversity. The Project will showcase the unique quality of the local identity by providing a venue for events involving the local culture and handcrafts. By creating dynamic outdoor environment and recreational programs, The Project also creates an attractive tourism brand for the QunKe district. Based on the characteristics of the site, there are three distinct valleys; ‘Harvesting valley’, ‘Central valley’ and ‘Recreational valley’. A continuous riverfront boulevard with splendid views links the valleys together.
Qunke Welcome Square is a core feature of Qunke riverfront landscape.
The design reflects the region’s land typologies of plateau, terrace, valley, slope and the Yellow River waterfront. The Plan locates public space and facilities with respect to the original topography and earth balance. The design also integrates with local cultural elements such as the Hui minority folks, Hualong Lamian industry and Yellow River culture. The design highlights include the Hualong water square, Yellow River square, almond tree square, and a waterfront playground.
